Worldwide Prayer for Moshiach Explained

When I first started hearing about this, I didn't understand the concept. Then someone made this short video and it became clear. Watch the video, then set an alarm on your phone to remind you when to say the short tefillah along with Jews from all over the world.

Sunday, September 23
5 PM Israel time
11 AM East Coast USA time

Here's the prayer in English:

Master of the Universe, we, the children of Israel, ask for Moshiach to redeem us, now and with mercy, from exile and all suffering, to reveal your Name in the world and to bring peace.

That's it. Just 35 English words.

How can you not?

Here's the text in Hebrew:

" ריבונו של עולם,
אנו בני ישראל מבקשים שמשיח צדקנו יגאל אותנו עכשיו מהגלות ברחמים, לשים סוף
לכל סבל, לגלות את שמך ולהביא שלום לעולם."

I guess I don't understand the idea of redemption. Redeem is what I do with a coupon or an iTunes card.

And, if a worldwide war of Gog U Magog has to happen before your so-called redeemer comes in, I am utterly without comprehension.

The Jewish concept of redemption is that ALL Jews have the power, capability, and choice to redeem themselves. The fact is we don't need a redeemer, a mashiach to lead us out of the mire of the galut. All we have to do is choose HaKadosh Baruch Hu in ALL we say and do. The addictive slavery of the west has transformed the free will of choice to a necessity of sending kids to college, having a bigger and nicer "things" than our parents and grandparents had. It is the addiction to bigger is better, newer is nicer, and leveraging the future will never catch up with me, I'll be able to pay it off if I refinance the house.

Stop following the ways of the "nations" and learn the ways of HaKadosh Baruch Hu.

The slavery can end in the blink of an eye if you only choose to see that you are a slave to the way you live. This is the slavery of the modern "Mitzrayim".

For children to ask for the mashiach sends a very deafing message that they can't rely on the adults to save them from the slavery that they are in. Their parents aren't strong enough to break the addictions of the west.

This video saddens my heart greatly that the children have lost all hope in their parents to whom they owe "kavod".

Our sages say the 3rd Beit HaMigdash will be built from the tears of children. My 4 year old son who attends Talmud Torah knows this.

The tears are from the desperation because their parents have turned a deaf ear to the reality of the world, turned a blind eye to the condition of their soul.

May HaKadosh Baruch Hu open our eyes and ears to the "REAL" world so that we can see and hear the quiet whispers of HIS voice through our children before they become loud cries and wailing.

Dear Anonymous,

The actual word is "Geula," which doesn't have anything to do with coupons or iTunes. Translation is always difficult. And "Gog U Magog" is a concept that is beyond my understanding to translate. Does it have to be a clear guns&bodies battle between countries? Could it not look like what is happening all around us now? I don't know. I leave these definitions to G-d. How can one NOT be "utterly without comprehension" in these days?

Since you read Bat Aliyah, you must still have some hope that Mashiach will come. My prayers are with you that you will find whatever you most need and desire in this world.

In the meantime, toss in your 35 words with the rest of us. What could it hurt?

Do you have a link to the same prayer in Hebrew? Is it available somewhere?
